A mixture of 1-iodo-2-methoxy-4-nitrobenzene (1.9 g, 6.8 mmol), NaSMe (500 mg, 7.1 mmol), Pd2(dba)3 (156 mg), Xantphos (197 mg) and TEA (1.18 mL, 8.51 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was purged with argon and heated to reflux overnight. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure.
