Timmer, Brian J. J.;Kravchenko, Oleksandr;Liu, Tianqi;Zhang, Biaobiao;Sun, Licheng research published 《 Off-Set Interactions of Ruthenium-bda Type Catalysts for Promoting Water-Splitting Performance》, the research content is summarized as follows. O-O bond formation with Ru(bda)L2-type catalysts is well-known to proceed through a bimol. reaction pathway, limiting the potential application of these catalysts at low concentrations Herein, we achieved high efficiencies with mononuclear catalysts, with TOFs of 460±32 s-1 at high catalyst loading and 31±3 s-1 at only 1 μM catalyst concentration, by simple structural considerations on the axial ligands. Kinetic and DFT studies show that introduction of an off-set in the interaction between the two catalytic units reduces the kinetic barrier of the second-order O-O bond formation, maintaining high catalytic activity even at low catalyst concentrations The results herein furthermore suggest that π-π interactions may only play a minor role in the observed catalytic activity, and that asymmetry can also rationalize high activity observed for Ru(bda)(isoq)2 type catalysts and offer inspiration to overcome the limitations of 2nd order catalysis.

Uzelac, Marina;Mastropierro, Pasquale;de Tullio, Marco;Borilovic, Ivana;Tarres, Marius;Kennedy, Alan R.;Aromi, Guillem;Hevia, Eva research published 《 Tandem Mn-I Exchange and Homocoupling Processes Mediated by a Synergistically Operative Lithium Manganate》, the research content is summarized as follows. Pairing lithium and manganese(II) to form lithium manganate [Li2Mn(CH2SiMe3)4] enables the efficient direct Mn-I exchange of aryliodides, affording transient (aryl)lithium manganate intermediates which in turn undergo spontaneous C-C homocoupling at room temperature to furnish sym. (bis)aryls in good yields under mild reaction conditions. The combination of EPR with X-ray crystallog. studies has revealed the mixed Li/Mn constitution of the organometallic intermediates involved in these reactions, including the homocoupling step which had previously been thought to occur via a single-metal Mn aryl species. These studies show Li and Mn working together in a synergistic manner to facilitate both the Mn-I exchange and the C-C bond-forming steps. Both steps are carefully synchronized, with the concomitant generation of the alkyliodide ICH2SiMe3 during the Mn-I exchange being essential to the aryl homocoupling process, wherein it serves as an in situ generated oxidant.

Sen, Abhijit;Dhital, Raghu N.;Sato, Takuma;Ohno, Aya;Yamada, Yoichi M. A. research published 《 Switching from Biaryl Formation to Amidation with Convoluted Polymeric Nickel Catalysis》, the research content is summarized as follows. A stable, reusable, and insoluble poly(4-vinylpyridine) nickel catalyst (P4VP-NiCl2) was prepared through the mol. convolution of poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) and nickel chloride. The authors proposed a coordination structure of the Ni center in the precatalyst based on elemental anal. and Ni K-edge XANES, and they confirmed that it is consistent with Ni K-edge EXAFS. The Suzuki-Miyaura-type coupling of aryl halides and arylboronic esters proceeded using P4VP-NiCl2 (0.1 mol % Ni) to give the corresponding biaryl compounds in up to 94% yield. Surprisingly, when the same reaction of aryl halides and arylboronic acid/ester was carried out in the presence of amides, the amidation proceeded predominantly to give the corresponding arylamides in up to 99% yield. In contrast, the reaction of aryl halides and amides in the absence of arylboronic acid/ester did not proceed. P4VP-NiCl2 successfully catalyzed the lactamization for preparing phenanthridinone. P4VP-NiCl2 was reused five times without significant loss of catalytic activity. Pharmaceuticals, natural products, and biol. active compounds were synthesized efficiently using P4VP-NiCl2 catalysis. Nickel contamination in the prepared pharmaceutical compounds was not detected by ICP-MS anal. The reaction was scaled to multigrams without any loss of chem. yield. Mechanistic studies for both the Suzuki-Miyaura and amidation reactions were performed.

Shiels, Oisin J.;Kelly, P. D.;Bright, Cameron C.;Poad, Berwyck L. J.;Blanksby, Stephen J.;da Silva, Gabriel;Trevitt, Adam J. research published 《 Reactivity Trends in the Gas-Phase Addition of Acetylene to the N-Protonated Aryl Radical Cations of Pyridine, Aniline, and Benzonitrile》, the research content is summarized as follows. A key step in gas-phase polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) formation involves the addition of acetylene (or other alkyne) to σ-type aromatic radicals, with successive additions yielding more complex PAHs. A similar process can happen for N-containing aromatics In cold diffuse environments, such as the interstellar medium, rates of radical addition may be enhanced when the σ-type radical is charged. This paper investigates the gas-phase ion-mol. reactions of acetylene with nine aromatic distonic σ-type radical cations derived from pyridinium (Pyr), anilinium (Anl), and benzonitrilium (Bzn) ions. Three isomers are studied in each case (radical sites at the ortho, meta, and para positions). Using a room temperature ion trap, second-order rate coefficients, product branching ratios, and reaction efficiencies are measured. The rate coefficients increase from para to ortho positions. The second-order rate coefficients can be sorted into three groups: low, between 1 and 3 x 10-12 cm3 mol.-1 s-1 (3Anl and 4Anl); intermediate, between 5 and 15 x 10-12 cm3 mol.-1 s-1 (2Bzn, 3Bzn, and 4Bzn); and high, between 8 and 31 x 10-11 cm3 mol.-1 s-1 (2Anl, 2Pyr, 3Pyr, and 4Pyr); and 2Anl is the only radical cation with a rate coefficient distinctly different from its isomers. Quantum chem. calculations, using M06-2X-D3(0)/6-31++G(2df,p) geometries and DSD-PBEP86-NL/aug-cc-pVQZ energies, are deployed to rationalize reactivity trends based on the stability of prereactive complexes. The G3X-K method guides the assignment of product ions following adduct formation. The rate coefficient trend can be rationalized by a simple model based on the prereactive complex forward barrier height.

This paper described the syntheses of several functionalized dihydropyrene (DHP) mol. switches with different substitution patterns. Regioselective nucleophilic alkylation of a 5-substituted di-Me isophthalate allowed the development of a workable synthetic protocol for the preparation of 2,7-alkyne-functionalized DHPs. Synthesis of DHPs with surface-anchoring groups in the 2,7- and 4,9-positions was described. The mol. structures of several intermediates and DHPs were elucidated by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Mol. properties and switching capabilities of both types of DHPs were assessed by light irradiation experiments, spectroelectrochem., and cyclic voltammetry. Spectroelectrochem., in combination with d. functional theory (DFT) calculations, shows reversible electrochem. switching from the DHP forms to the cyclophanediene (CPD) forms. Charge-transport behavior was assessed in single-mol. scanning tunneling microscope (STM) break junctions, combined with d. functional theory-based quantum transport calculations All DHPs with surface-contacting groups form stable mol. junctions. Experiments showed that the mol. conductance depends on the substitution pattern of the DHP motif. The conductance was found to decrease with increasing applied bias.

1120-90-7, 3-Iodopyridine is a heteroaryl halide. It undergoes microwave-assisted coupling with heterocyclic compounds (pyrazole, imidazole, pyrrole and indole) to afford the corresponding N-3-pyridinyl-substituted heterocyclic compounds.

3-Iodopyridine is a useful research chemical used as a reactant in the copper-catalyzed coupling of alkylamines and aryl iodides.

3-Iodopyridine is an isomeric compound that can be synthesized by cross-coupling reactions. This compound has been shown to have nicotinic acetylcholine receptor binding properties and may be useful in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. 3-Iodopyridine is a primary amino acid that can be used for the synthesis of amines, which are nitrogen nucleophiles. It has been crystallized with halides and its x-ray structures have been determined. The nmr spectra of 3-iodopyridine show that it contains phosphorus and nitrogen atoms. 3-Iodopyridine is also able to take up nitrate ions from solution, which may be due to its uptake properties., Computed Properties of 1120-90-7

Organic iodides are organic compounds containing a carbon-iodine (C-I) bond. 1120-90-7, formula is C5H4IN, Name is 3-Iodopyridine.The carbon-iodine bond is weaker than other carbon-halogen bonds due to the poor electronegative nature of the iodine atom. Computed Properties of 1120-90-7.

Sajjadi, Mohaddeseh;Nasrollahzadeh, Mahmoud;Ghafuri, Hossein;Baran, Talat;Orooji, Yasin;Baran, Nuray Yilmaz;Shokouhimehr, Mohammadreza research published 《 Modified chitosan-zeolite supported Pd nanoparticles: A reusable catalyst for the synthesis of 5-substituted-1H-tetrazoles from aryl halides》, the research content is summarized as follows. A novel heterogeneous catalyst was developed using chitosan-zeolite supported Pd nanoparticles (PdNPs@CS-Zeo) and used in an efficient synthesis of 5-substituted-1H-tetrazoles I [Ar = Ph, 4-pyridyl, 4-MeC6H4, etc.] from aryl halides with high yields for relatively short reaction times with an easy work-up procedure. In this method, highly effective and reusable PdNPs@CS-Zeo catalyst was used in the reaction of various aryl iodides/bromides with K4[Fe(CN)6] as a non-toxic cyanide source to catalyze the [2 + 3] cycloaddition of the corresponding aryl nitriles with NaN3 in the sequential one-pot preparation of 5-substituted-1H-tetrazoles I. The synthesized PdNPs@CS-Zeo nanocatalyst was characterized using XRD, FTIR, TEM, HRTEM, XPS, Raman, TG-DTG, ICP-OES, BET, and EDS mapping. Addnl., the nanocatalyst could be effectively separated by filtration and reused for multiple times without significant decrease of catalytic activity.

Sarmah, Manashi;Sarmah, Debasish;Dewan, Anindita;Bora, Porag;Boruah, Purna K.;Das, Manash R.;Bharali, Pankaj;Bora, Utpal research published 《 Dual Responsive Sustainable Cu2O/Cu Nanocatalyst for Sonogashira and Chan-Lam Cross-Coupling Reactions》, the research content is summarized as follows. Abstract: Cu2O/Cu nanocatalyst was prepared by simple in situ gas phase H2O/O2 stimulating approach via deposition of Cu2O on the surface of Cu nanoparticles (NPs) using aqueous extract of papaya peel. The synthesized hybrid copper catalyst offers an efficient methodol. for Pd-free Sonogashira and Chan-Lam cross-coupling reactions. A site-selective type catalytic activity was observed in Sonogashira coupling reaction by performing a controlled experiment using Cu (0) and the hybrid Cu2O/Cu nanocatalyst. It is characterized by solid UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform IR (FTIR spectroscopy), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), XPS, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and SEM (SEM). XRD and XPS anal. confirmed the formation of the Cu (0) and Cu2O NPs. The Cu2O/Cu NPs appear two different phases distributed like a lamellar sheet stacked one above the other. The presence of Cu2O phase in hybrid nano catalyst provides an attractive advantage highlighting a Cu (I)-Cu (0) synergistic interaction in the resp. cross-coupling reaction.
